Don’t Delay: Only a Few Days Left to Register for the 2024 General Election

COLUMBIA, S.C. (October 3, 2024) – As the registration deadlines for the Statewide General Election draw closer, the State Election Commission (SEC) is urging voters to make sure they are registered and ready to vote. “The November Statewide General Election is right around the corner, and now is the time to ensure you are eligible to vote,” said Howie Knapp, Executive Director of the SEC. “Register to vote today or, if you are already registered, be sure to verify your information is up to date. Make sure your voice is heard by Prepping for the Polls!”

Registration Deadlines

  • The deadline to register in person at your county voter registration office is Friday, October 4.
    • Check locally for office hours. Note that some county offices may be closed due to Hurricane Helene.
  • The deadline to register online, by fax, or by email is Sunday, October 6 by 11:59 p.m.
  • The deadline to register by mail is Monday, October 7 (must be postmarked by this date).

How to Register:

If you’re already registered, visit scVOTES.gov to make sure your information is up to date!

  • If you have moved from one county to another, you must register in your new county by the deadline to be eligible to vote.
  • If you’ve moved within your county or changed your name recently, update your information prior to election day to help ensure a smoother voting process.
