Get Registered. Vote Local. SEC Marks National Voter Registration Day on September 16
COLUMBIA, SC (September 15, 2025) – The South Carolina State Election Commission (SEC) is joining election officials nationwide to celebrate National Voter Registration Day on September 16. For the next few weeks, state and local election leaders will be urging South Carolinians to register to vote and make sure their voter information is up to date.
Why It Matters
More than 200 local elections will take place across South Carolina on Municipal Election Day, November 4. Local elections shape the issues that impact your everyday life, so being registered and prepared to vote is essential.
“Voting in local elections is one of the most direct ways South Carolinians can shape their communities,” said Howie Knapp, Executive Director of the SEC. “Register today to make sure your voice is heard on the issues that impact your daily life.”
