Your Vote Matters. Register Now for Municipal Election Day.
Register by October 5 to vote in local elections on November 4 in participating municipalities.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (October 2, 2025) – The South Carolina State Election Commission (SEC) is reminding voters that the deadline to register for Municipal Election Day is Sunday, October 5. Municipal Election Day is Tuesday, November 4, when most municipalities across South Carolina will hold elections. Voters are encouraged to act now to ensure their voice is heard on Election Day.
“South Carolina’s elections are carried out by dedicated election officials at both the state and local level who work every day to ensure voters can have confidence in the election process.” said Jenny Wooten, Interim Director of the SEC. “Municipal elections are where decisions closest to our daily lives are made, and every eligible voter should take the opportunity to participate.”
How Can You Register?
In South Carolina, you must register by the deadline to be eligible to vote. Do not wait until the last minute – register today using one of these options:
- Register online at scVOTES.gov (must be received by Sunday, October 5).
- Download a voter registration form at scVOTES.gov.
- Complete and return the form to your county voter registration office:
- By fax or email attachment (must be received by Sunday, October 5).
- By mail (must be postmarked by Monday, October 6).
- Register in person at your county voter registration office (most offices will close at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3 for in-person registrations).

Visit scVOTES.gov to confirm your voter registration information is up to date:
- To vote in a municipal election, you must be registered at an address within that municipality.
- Moved to a new county? You must register in your new county by the registration deadline.
- Moved within your county or recently changed your name? Update your information now to avoid delays on Election Day.
